Classic, timeless, neutral
A beautiful classic paint recipe that is timeless, light, airy and neutral. A popular go-to for our customers utilising grey and white and creating a soft neutral and versatile finish.
Dove is a beautiful soft grey and with a Crystal coloured wax it creates a beautiful limed patina and effect that is classic and timeless with a strong nod to the french look.
The two combinations of colours are easy to dress around and a great finish if you are looking at softening a piece, for your interior space. A finish that looks complicated but very easy to achieve for beginners.

Moody, Edgy, Industrial greys and blacks
Here we put together combinations of Vintro Chalk Paint & Vintro Coloured Waxes as Vintro Recipes on how to create the look. Simply click into any one of these Vintro Chalk Paint Recipes and right click to download. Take the Recipe handout into any NZ Vintro Retailer to receive a complimentary demonstration in store at the Vintro Demo Bar on how easy it is to achieve this finish.
Can't decide on whether to go grey or black, how about doing both. Here's a beautiful piece which really demonstrates this combination so well. Painted firstly in Vintro Cloudburst Chalk Paint with subtle texture then with a Victorian Black coloured wax, using fine steel wool used to pull back (remove and highlight) the coloured wax, allowing it to gather around and accentuate the edges finished with a touch of silver. This Vintro paint finish and combo can be a really lovely deep and moody neutral, it can appear slightly industrial on the right piece and is a lovely edgy combination for a contemporary home with greys and blacks. For a more traditional or classic home use a little more texture and go heavier on the Victorian Black coloured wax to age and create a super moody vintage look. However you want to interpret it, if you're keen on this finish take this into your NZ Vintro Retailer this week to receive a complimentary demonstration how to create this finish. Beachy Coastal Blues
There's no doubt we love our blues, its unsurprising with all the water and sea around us.. this finish has alot of ticks when it comes to creating something relaxed and casual with colour, ideal for pieces without to much detailing, allowing you to use the texture and Vintro's highly pigmented colours to create a statement piece. The perfect finish for the bach, coastal style homes, or holiday homes.
This piece has been painted in Vintro French Navy with texture then with a with a coloured wax in Victorian Black, steel wooled back, then it all pulls together and comes to life with a Christabelle coloured wax and for good measure add a little silver or gold detailing!
Visit you NZ Vintro Retailer, take this in and watch the finish come to life in person!

Aged & textured french style blue grey
If you love that soft aged french style finish this one is for you. This recipe creates a stunning blue grey finish, neutral and full of character. Using Vintro Chalk Paint in Aurora as a base, painted on with texture and layering 2 Vintro coloured waxes, firstly with dark (which is pre-made) and then with a Dove coloured wax, creating a beautiful depth and age that is subtle and soft. For that touch of luxe add a hint of gold and silver as this finish can take both.
A nice easy finish to achieve without requiring to sand or prime with Vintro Chalk Paint. There is nothing quite like being able to see the technique being done live in front of you to really understand just how easy it is to achieve, therefore if you love this finish make sure you head in to see your Vintro Retailer, take this into to receive a free demonstration in store at the Vintro Demonstration bar.

Stunning Mid blue with soft industrial age
This weeks Paint recipe shows the beautiful and versatile Chiswick House a stunning mid blue.
A strong blue that was influenced by the décor within the Blue Velvet State Room at Chiswick House, London, which was built in 1729 and is a good example of Georgian Neo-Palladian architecture.
Pictured here Chiswick house has been deepened and given a slight industrial age creating a beautiful depth in the finish with Victorian Black wax. The carved details given a touch of luxe, detailed in Vintro gold then aged a little with a dab of dark wax over the gold. An easy finish to achieve and definitely one to consider if you are a lover of blues. Leave the gold out for a more relaxed chic look or add the gold for a bit of luxe..

2) Vintro dark wax has been applied directly on to the dried Harewood paint. At this stage it's looking very rustic and some would even say "dirty", but this part of the process you need to just get the dark wax on there without worrying too much how it's looking at this point.
3) Now this part you will take care in detailing, softening with Harewood coloured wax. Mix your visual 1:1 Harewood and Clear Wax together brush over the dark wax backwards and forwards spreading thinly across the body of your piece of furniture, the tip here is to pick up just a small amount of wax on your brush and brush and spread the coloured wax out thinly. This step will soften the look of the dark wax completely.
4) Accent wax: (you can leave this out if you choose to but it does help to lift the look and finish it off nicely) Mix up your Chiswick House coloured wax using 1/2: 1 Clear wax and Chiswick House chalk Paint. Apply only in areas and dabbing your brush and using your rag to dab and blend. Focus on framing your finish with this lovely soft blue (on edges) around the corners etc
5) Add a pinch of metallics : mix Vintro and silver metallic wax together to get your desired champagne gold colour. Using a Staalmeester angle fitch or artist brush, pick up a small amount and lightly dry brush thinly around the edges and bevels.. tip run fine steel wool over to give a distressed metallic look
A beautiful aged finish, whilst still being soft and elegant. The dark wax sits beautifully in the background providing a beautiful depth, the texture creates a lovely authentic french style finish, with the metallics adding a refined touch to the entire look. A beautifully balanced look that is easy and fast to do.
If you would like to see this demonstrated live in front of you, take this into your Vintro retailer and ask them to show you at the instore paint bar to see in person how simple this look is to achieve.

Textured French Style Honeydew with Lustre
A beautiful recipe this week of a textured Honey Dew, beautifully aged with a soft lustre
What you will need :
1x Honey Dew Chalk Paint 1 Litre
1x Gold Metallic Paint 125ml
Clear Wax
Dark Wax
1) This has been hand painted in Vintro Honey Dew Chalk Paint full strength with texture using a Staalmeester pure bristle brush, once dried and completely covered, a light sand to remove any unwanted or irregular texture
2) Vintro dark wax has been applied directly on to the dried Honey Dew paint. At this stage it's looking very rustic and some would even say "dirty", but this part of the process you need to just get the dark wax on there without worrying too much how it's looking at this point.
3) Now this part you will take care in detailing, softening with Honey Dew coloured wax. Mix your visual 1:1 Honey Dew and Clear Wax together, brush over the dark wax backwards and forwards spreading thinly across the body of your piece of furniture, the tip here is to pick up just a small amount of wax on your brush and brush and spread the coloured wax out thinly. This step will soften the look of the dark wax completely.
4) Metallic shimmer : (you can leave this out if you choose to but it does help to lift the look and finish it off nicely) Mix a couple of drops of metallic gold paint into your clear wax, you want it to still be transparent, but shimmery. (you can adjust to suit but often just a couple of drops of metallics to 1 tablespoon of wax is enough to create a beautiful shimmer. Pick this up with your Pure Bristle brush and lightly brush over the surface in sections and lightly dust off with your rag, you will see straight away the beautiful shimmer on the surface of your finish.
5) Add a pinch of metallics : Add solid gold metallic detailing to edges and handles if wanted

Create a feature with a Pewter Finish
This week we are sharing the super edgy and contemporary pewter finish although this can also be aged further with darker waxes to give it an "old worldly" finish
What you will need :
1x Midnight 1 Litre
1x Staalmeester 20/20 brush
1x Vintro Metallic Silver
1x125ml Victorian black wax
1x Clear Wax
1) Paint your furniture in Midnight Chalk Paint as a base first
2) Mix Vintro Silver and Midnight together until you get a tone of Pewter that you like. (just a drop or two of Midnight will change the colour dramatically so slowly add the midnight and mix)
3) Paint two coats of your pewter mix feathering it on your piece of furniture, (if the first coat looks a bit patchy, don't worry the second coat will even out) the key here is to brush and spread around in every which way using your staalmeester brush or if you can The One brush by Staalmeester is great for metallics
4) Mix your left over Pewter paint with clear wax then add Victorian Black Chalk Paint to make a darker pewter wax, then brush over and wipe to create further depth.
Optional (detail with silver gilding wax)

Warm, elegant & Neutral
This week we are sharing a beautiful warm, elegant & neutral look. Our image shows this finish completed on a dressing table
What you will need :
1x Nymph Chalk Paint
1x Staalmeester 20/20 brush
1x Vintro Clear Wax
1x125ml Stonebreaker Chalk paint
1x Pure Bristle Brush
1) Paint your furniture in Nymph Chalk Paint Paint using your Staalmeester brush as a base first and leave to dry
2) Water down your paint for the second coat: decant some into a bowl add 10-15 % water and mix thoroughly, then use this diluted mixture for your second coat. You are looking for full coverage. Once everything is covered and dry move on to step 3
3) Lightly sand any unwanted texture using 240 grit sandpaper, if you're happy with the texture move on to step 4
4) Mix 1: 1 Stonebreaker and clear wax
4) Brush your coloured wax on in sections spreading it out thinly and wipe and remove excess with a lint free rag,
5) Highlight: at this point you will see that your finish will go almost a mushroom colour, now you need to highlight to bring the colour back, to do this you can either load clear wax onto your wax brush and brush over in circular motions on areas where it is too dark or where you want to highlight and bring back the white,
eg) you may want to leave it darker around the drawers and lighter around the center of the drawers therefore you will focus on highlighting the centre of the drawers by removing some of the coloured wax by brushing clear wax over the top and followed with a wipe to remove, with a clean lint free rag. You will see the piece will become lighter, the coloured wax will sit more in the brush strokes or any carved detailing. Alternatively you can also use fine steel wool to lighten if your stonebreaker wax is subtle.

Softly aged shimmery green
When it comes to soft greens Vintro Verdant is definitely a strong contender. A beautiful colour to connect with gardens and outdoor greenery, and a great colour to introduce into the home and softly aged like this makes it elegant, sophisticated and full of character whilst being soft and muted.
This beautiful laurel green can be found when walking around the expansive gardens and parklands of Osborne House, Isle of Wight, originally planned by, and partly planted by, Prince Albert and observed by Queen Victoria.
To Re-create this look paint with subtle texture using the Staalmeester prohybrid 20/20 paint brush, once dry softly and gently age by mixing Vintro Clear and dark together to create a light brown wax and apply allowing it to gather around the edges, details and brushstrokes. Steel wool the body to highlight the Verdant. Then finish off with a Vintro Metallic gold wash.
This creates a lovely warm version of Verdant, with plenty of depth, a finish that is sophisticated and looks complex but is actually super easy to achieve to it sounds. To see how to create this finish simply pop into your Vintro Retailer download, save or bookmark this image and your retailer will show you how to recreate this look at the Vintro Demo Bar in store .

The Artisan Company is a New Zealand owned and based company focussed upon making and providing the highest quality decorative paints and tools for homes and all types of spaces. Born out of a rich heritage of bespoke furniture and interiors through the merging of Taylored Revival and Vintro Paint NZ and with several decades of experience we are unashamedly focused upon luxury DIY products and in helping people achieve bespoke looks in their interiors.
As NZ's only bespoke paint manufacturer making our own exclusive formulations including our flagship Premium Chalk Paint we combine technology with our fine tuned natural skills. We use advanced machinery with an exact accuracy measured within less than a ¼ of a ml and use a custom formulation database with complex colours formulated by hand; most of which can't be replicated by machines. Our trademarked FLOWplus® technology further differentiates our range being built in from the ground up and allowing our thick full bodied and highly pigmented paints to mould and flow effortlessly. We are a proud NZ company who promotes and uses local suppliers and products wherever possible. We also aim to have a positive impact on environment through low VOC paints, minimised wastage and smart use of materials.
To provide the best possible experience for our customers we have also curated artisanal tools including the world renowned Staalmeester brushes which work in perfect unison with our Premium Chalk Paint and otehr ranges with there rich and creamy consistency. From the advanced bristle materials through to the INOX steel ferrules it all really helps to achieve the best results, and yes brushes do make a big difference to your painting experience and finish.
