Two odd pieces with a hand painted finishes to bring them together as a set for a formal study.
The old oak tea trolley and the scalloped side table were both sentimental pieces gifted to our long time client as a remembrance of friendship and we wanted to work with them given the story behind this and our relationship with our client to turn them into bespoke feature pieces that could sit proudly in our clients space. A concept was discussed and after understanding the space they were going into and the colours and finishes that were in this room. We decided on an aged metallic finish. Redefining the old oak tea trolley, working with it's imperfections, history and age we completed a subtle textured finish then finished with metallics and aged and detailed with waxes.
The paint finish was applied all over from the frame, table top to the old rubber wheels. The results have us all inspired to reach out for that old oak tea trolley and odd vintage side table for our own homes to add this aged metallic finish that has beautiful balance of classic, luxe, with a touch of industrial to it.
What we did:
-Hand painted in a base coat of Victorian Black with subtle texture using a series 2020 size 18 brush ( see video guides)
-Then a mix of Vintro Silver and Metallic gold together in our Mix it Storage tin to create a champagne gold metallic paint using a series 2020 size 18 brush to learn how to mix watch this video guide
This was then brushed and feathered over the Victorian Black
- Aged and detailed with Vintro dark waxed
- Aged and detailed with Victorian Black Wax
- Steel wooled to bring out the champagne metallic finish
Gold gilded around the edges with The Artisan Company gold gilding wax
