With Green, blue mustard and gold accents in the tropical styled room this piece was painted to sit in with the colour way in the interior space. A bold colour toned and balanced down with texture and age creates a striking visual and talking point for the room.

Vintage wine tables in Potters Clay & Moa

Vintage wine tables are often highly varnished, and considered dark and dated. They often come with beautiful delicate curves, detailing and shape. We love painting and stacking them together in either a set of 2 or 3 for our clients, they make lovely candidates for an Artisan Paint finish and today we have chosen to showcase this project using soft earthy Artisan neutrals. Two neutrals that tone in beautifully together creating a set of bespoke side tables for an interior space that sits elegantly with soft age and character and works as both decor and furniture.

The techniques and products shown in this clip is also suitable for outdoors as our Premium lacquers are outdoor grade. A sophisticated and visually complex finish created simply by using Artisan Paints & Products all low in VOC with little to no odour.

A finish like this is completely bespoke and requires little to no Preparation as it uses our Premium Chalk Paint as a base. We've broken the steps down for you, simply just follow the steps, recipe/ process & you will get there... your version of a bespoke Artisan Variegated wall.
TIPS:
We chose to use an old (lint free) sheet, as from experience we find it's easier to control the effects, as it's absorbent, ensure you wrinkle it up in your hand before stamping on the wall.
Don't get caught up in detailing one area too much, keep standing back to look at your wall as whole, you can keep working at it until you are happy with the end result. Remember you are looking at a bare wall and that it will soften and settle when you place furniture back against it or when you dress it with art work, mirrors etc
Get the paint on first and ensure full coverage followed by the gloss lacquer, don't overthink too much when doing these two steps. Where you want to slow down and the take your time is the last step when you place your lacquered mixture on for detailing.
Note to self: The art of this finish is to be brave and free, and painting like a 4 year old brushing in all directions and letting loose and enjoying the process :-)
With the varied sheen in the finish, the wall will reflect and bounce light therefore will adjust and react to lighting
What we did:
Hand painted with texture in Ocean Trench Chalk Paint using a 2 inch flat brush (3 or 4 inch if your wall is bigger) On a wall of this size we used 1x 1litre chalk paint approx 250ml gloss lacquer and 250ml Matt Lacquer a couple of tablespoons of Carbon Black Chalk Paint
Gloss lacquer with your Staalmeester brush loading and making sure to spread it out thinly applying in a similar cross hatch style as the painting method to ensure you get into all the texture
Mix your lacquer solution with Matte Lacquer & Carbon Black, brush on and rag and stamp off with your old lint free sheet

Commissioned Sideboard in a Victorian Black Lustre with Gold

A stunning commissioned project for a good client of ours where we had completed a hall table for the end of a hallway previously in Victorian black and gold. This recently completed piece will be sitting at the front entrance in the same line of sight as our other piece. We wanted to create a feature piece that was sophisticated, both classic and contemporary using the black and gold theme that our client requested but with a twist to separate this piece as a stunning feature for the front entrance.
An involved finished in Victorian Black created with a stunning understated lustre through the body of the victorian black paint finish which reflects, shimmers and responds beautifully to lighting. The edges framed in The Artisan Company gold gilding wax which buffs up beautifully to a leaf-like finish with the handles given the same gold treatment to tie in as well as highlighting all edges with a fine pinstripe gold. The legs have all been detailed with every bevel and dip shadowed with a subtle metallic fade up and down the legs overall a luxurious statement piece that is bold, rich and will work beautifully in our clients classic contemporary interior space. Tying in together with our previous piece that sits in the same line of sight working to complement each other.
What we did:
-Hand painted in a base coat of Victorian Black with subtle texture using a series 2020 size 20, pointed tip size 12, angled brush ( see video guides)
-Then a mix of Vintro gold metallic in with a pre-mixed Victorian black wax, this was then brushed and feathered over the Victorian Black ( see video guides Pt 2 )
-Deepened with Victorian Black Wax
-Shaded and shadowed with Victorian Black Wax
- Detailed in The Artisan Company gold gilding and buffed to leaf like finish
- Steel wooled to distress the gold gilding wax

Commissioned Oak Tea Trolley and side table in aged Metallics

Two odd pieces with a hand painted finishes to bring them together as a set for a formal study.
The old oak tea trolley and the scalloped side table were both sentimental pieces gifted to our long time client as a remembrance of friendship and we wanted to work with them given the story behind this and our relationship with our client to turn them into bespoke feature pieces that could sit proudly in our clients space. A concept was discussed and after understanding the space they were going into and the colours and finishes that were in this room. We decided on an aged metallic finish. Redefining the old oak tea trolley, working with it's imperfections, history and age we completed a subtle textured finish then finished with metallics and aged and detailed with waxes.
The paint finish was applied all over from the frame, table top to the old rubber wheels. The results have us all inspired to reach out for that old oak tea trolley and odd vintage side table for our own homes to add this aged metallic finish that has beautiful balance of classic, luxe, with a touch of industrial to it.
What we did:
-Hand painted in a base coat of Victorian Black with subtle texture using a series 2020 size 18 brush ( see video guides)
-Then a mix of Vintro Silver and Metallic gold together in our Mix it Storage tin to create a champagne gold metallic paint using a series 2020 size 18 brush to learn how to mix watch this video guide
This was then brushed and feathered over the Victorian Black

Rosette: Large solid Mahogany display cabinet

Rosette is a new piece from The Artisan Collection, beautifully hand crafted out of solid wood mahogany and finished in the TR Studio. A stunning bespoke feature piece crafted by Artisan from start to finish.
She has been beautifully hand painted and detailed with Vintro Chalk Paint & coloured waxes along with silver metallic detailing. There is an incredible depth in her finish playing with the light and allowing her tone in easily with her surrounding drawing from the layers of colours incorporated in her finish. Her internals darkened with the luxurious vintro nightfall allowing any decor placed on the shelves to stand out and visually "float" whilst creating a beautiful dark reflection on the glass fronts. When we came up with the concept for this piece, we wanted remove the "formalness" of the piece and and provide a more relaxed approach using a complex "character -full" finish, where every bevel angle and edge has been detailed by hand and artistically by eye we also wanted to add a luxurious and glamorous touch to her finish. We imagined Rosette as a feature piece in a coastal style home but can also visualise her in a bungalow, villa or as a feature piece in a contemporary style home. Rosette is a piece that has the ability to elevate the look and style of the room she goes into and is a signature TR piece that you won't find anywhere other than of course the TR gallery.
What we did with this project:
The internals have been completed in Vintro No Seal Chalk Paint in Nightfall, for a flat smooth matt velvety finish with the little drawers in Vintro Metallic Silver
The externals have been hand painted in Chiswick House Chalk Paint, then detailed with Vintro coloured waxes (in order) Victorian Black, Harewood with cloudburst in selected areas. The bevels and handles all carefully painted in refinished in Vintro Metallic Silver.

Trelise: Small Half round table

Trelise is a vintage half round table found in NZ, given a TR revival, ideal for a small hallway or living area with a vase and print or mirror hung above. Using Vintro she is now a beautiful little feature piece with a luxe feel.
What we did :
Hand painted in Vintro Neptune then coloured wax in Victorian Black
Edging and skirting completed in brass gold gilding wax from The Artisan Company along with the feet.

Brenna & Lila

It's not often we paint two pieces the same but it was definitely called for with these two. Brenna & Lila are two stunning chairs from The Artisan Collection beautifully hand carved out of solid wood Mahogany with a beautiful hand done feel to them. We have now painted the second chair (Lila) to work in as a pair with Brenna. These are gorgeous stately oversized Louis Style chairs that will elevate and set the style for any room.
Hand painted in the TR Studio in Crystal and then coloured waxed in Champagne Waltz using two whites to add depth to a crisp white finish. Beautifully contrasted with the deep plush blue velvet, these are a bespoke pair you won't find anywhere other than at TR. Price is for the pair

Agatha: Vintro gloss lacquered queen anne style coffee/ side table

Agatha is a definite mix of vintage and contemporary. The classic Queen Anne Style coffee tables with the pie crust has been given a modern edge and twist to the design through it's revival. Handpainted in Victorian Black Chalk paint and finished with 3 coats of Vintro Gloss lacquer has created a Piano like black to the table turning a traditional style table into a contemporary look. Ideal as a side table or small coffee table.

Alisa is a piece from the TR Antique Collection imported from the UK and comes with history. A beautiful delicate frame revived in the TR Studio into a beautiful balance of classic contemporary. A beautiful feature piece, versatile in size and easy one to place in an interior space. Rita: Rustic desk with large set of drawers

Rita is a piece brought over from the UK as part of our Antique collection. She was more than just tired, with many markings from her history, battered but an all round uniquely beautiful piece with a drop front which opens up as a desk. We have worked in with her imperfections and brought them out in a rustic paint finish with texture, plenty of depth and character. She is now a stunning piece with every angle telling a story. Making her imperfectly beautiful and a great feature and showcase character piece in any space. A one off, beautifully hand painted piece from the TR Studio.

- The top has been finished in a raised stencil, and then finished along with internal drop front in Vintro Rose Gold Metallic then aged with dark wax
- Handles have been replaced and refitted with TR handles the finished in metallics
- The internals in Vintro No Seal Chalk Paint in a custom mixed colour

Briar is all character, rustic goodness with old worldly age and charm. Hand painted in a bespoke creative finish in the TR Studio every corner detailed and aged, with layers of depth, colour and metallics all hand painted in Vintro Luxury Paint. Tiffany : Edwardian style table in Soft aged Vintro Pink

Tiffany is a beautiful edwardian style table imported over from the UK from the TR Antique Collection a beautiful bespoke table with history, imperfectly perfect with stunning craftsmanship. Revived into a rustic and elegant table full of character.
What we did:
Hand painted in Vintro Albert Bridge mixed with Stonebreaker then detailed with dark wax, pulled back with steel wool, then detailed with Candyfloss & Duck Egg Blue coloured waxes. A Vintro Metallic gold lustre has been applied (gold metallic paint mixed with clear wax) The edges and detailing enhanced further with french gold gilding wax.
Overall a lovely aged, sophisticated soft dusky pink finish, beautifully aged into a character piece. She has travelled all the way from the UK for a revival and is now available as a one off bespoke piece from the TR Gallery

Heather : bespoke hand painted corner unit

Heather is a beautiful unique piece of furniture, an antique piece imported by TR from the UK with a circa date of 1900-15. She comes with marking and history is imperfectly perfect with a working key. A beautiful corner unit for livening up those often forgotten spaces. We imagine her a bespoke bathroom piece but she is a versatile piece that would add character and soul into any corner and certainly a bespoke hand painted piece by TR that you won't find anywhere else.
What we did:
She has been beautifully revived in the TR Studio, hand painted in Vintro Duck Egg Blue with texture with coloured waxes of French Navy, Cloudburst, Verdant & Moonstone, distressed and scraped back to expose all the beautiful hand painted texture giving her a stunning aged look with a beautiful depth in the end finish. The carved details completed in a light was of Vintro Metallic silver paint and then edged with french gilding wax in silver.

Eva: Bespoke hand painted mid century modern table with decorative top

Eva is an artful piece created in the TR Studio, a bespoke hand painted and revived piece you will only find in the TR gallery. A midcentury modern piece given a beautiful revival with an "artful luxe" feel. A one of a kind piece of an artful side table with designer appeal now available for purchase in the TR Gallery. Eva is a stunning piece that will sit beautifully between two chairs, up against a wall on her own with decor or as side table up against a sofa. However you choose to place her she is a piece full of character, intrigue and elegance with a modern edgy touch. With her dark rich frame contrasting against her stunning table top she is a striking piece, the gloss finish brings out the different shades in her and turns the table top into a bit of Chameleon bringing out different shades and metallics depending on how the light is hitting it and which angle you are viewing her from, making her a real feature piece that will tone in with her surroundings.
What we did:
The surface has been lightly painted with Chalk Paint with Fine Stone (available from TR) applied with a spatula areas have been pressed to vary to texture.
Hand painted in French Navy over the Fine Stone
Lightly dry brushed with different shades of Vintro metallics: rose gold, gold, gold mixed with midnight, rose gold mixed with gold, gold mixed with silver.
We then applied a colour wash by diluting Christabelle Chalk Paint with water brushing over in areas and ragging.
Metallics were then dry brushed again in areas
The entire top given 2 coats of gloss lacquer
edges in french gold gilding wax
The beautiful rich matt velvety smooth legs and frame have been hand painted in Vintro No Seal Chalk Paint providing a stunning richness and depth to the finish.

Casey: Textured Metallic Side Table

Casey is a piece with history, the classic queen anne scalloped edge table, given a Taylored Revival in the TR Paint Studio. A very vintage and traditional shaped piece of furniture. We challenged ourselves to interpret her with more of a modern take to fit into both a classic & contemporary home . With her new revival she now is an edgy piece with a hammered like metal top, slightly aged metallic giving her an stunning balance and mix of classic industrial.

Greta: Black ornate carved mirror

Greta is a new mirror beautifully crafted from The Artisan Collection. Made of Solid Wood Mahogany. Revived in the TR Studio in Victorian Black Chalk Paint and finished with clear wax creating a chic, elegant and understate finish making her suitable for both a classic and contemporary home. Emme: Low Side Table

Emme is a solid little low side table that comes with history and beautifully revived in the TR Studio. Ideal as piece to sit next to a sofa, or as a side table between chairs, she has plenty of depth ideal for holding a lamp or large decor item. Revived with a coastal style interior in mind, we have created a faux ashy rustic style top with a washed feel to it, all created with Vintro Chalk Paint & coloured waxes. Now a beautiful neutral piece with a great balance of character and elegance. A bespoke hand painted piece you will only find at Taylored Revival.
What we did:
The frame has been painted with Vintro Crystal with a Stonebreaker coloured wax then steel wooled to allow the stonebreaker to sit and softly age and create depth as well as accentuating the lines and curves of the piece.
A new TR handle has been refitted on the piece
The top has a beautiful decorative paint effect on it creating a faux wood top in a ashy neutral with a washed like finish to it and this was created with Pebble Chalk Paint using a Staalmeester pure bristle brush in a linear type stroke, then coloured waxes in a linear motion (listed in order) Dark wax, Victorian Black Wax, Stonebreaker, Pebble,

Annalise: Half round table with a metallic top finish

Annalise is a lovely revival in the TR Studio in Vintro's sage in No Seal Chalk Paint creating a beautiful flat modern green finish in a matt velvety finish with subtle champagne gold detailing. The top has been finished in a texture metallic finish creating contrast and interest in this gorgeous table. Ideal on a landing, at the end of a hallway or small front entrance. What we did:
Hand painted in Sage No Seal Chalk Paint ( no wax or lacquer required) self levelling paint that creates a beautiful flat matt velvety finish.
The top was painted in Victorian Black Chalk Paint as a base with texture using a staalmeester pure bristle brush, then covered in a champagne gold metallic using Vintro Silver and Gold mixed together. The texture has then been brought out in dark wax and Victorian black wax.

Marianne: Hutch Dresser

Marianne is a Mahogany hutch dresser, brought over from the UK as part of the TR Antique collection. Revived in TR with in beautiful warm french style look using warm & earthy Vintro neutrals, she is now an elegant piece of furniture full of character and depth. She comes with history so is imperfectly perfect.
What we did:
Hand painted in Vintro Pebble Chalk Paint, beautifully layered in Vintro coloured waxes (in order) dark wax, Crystal, Stonebreaker coloured waxes then pulled back with steel wool. Creating a beautiful colourway and depth in the final finish with the final details enhanced with metallic gold gilding wax.
