A transformation in tribute to special memories and the connection that our client has to this piece. A beautiful commissioned sideboard utilising the markings and history of the piece in its new decorative finish.

A dark, heavy and tired piece has now been given an Artisan finish using Baked Apple; a pale soft warm green painted with subtle texture, in keeping with the character and the history of the piece, it's previous imperfections of crackled varnish and splits on the top of the sideboard has been enhanced and brought out as a feature with artisan coloured waxes and metallics highlighting these imperfections, combining the history of the piece with its new look. Every bevel and corner detailed a beautiful showcase of a hand painted piece in Artisan paints and products and how a dark and dated piece can be transformed elegantly, without losing it's character to perfectly fit into a space. The colours chosen for both paint and coloured waxes were inspired by our clients artwork, rug and lead lights allowing us to customise the finish to tie in with the space that it will be going into. Now a beautiful bespoke hand painted piece that will sit proudly in our clients home, treasured and enjoyed for many more years to come.

    What we did :

    Painting:
Hand painted with Subtle texture in Artisan Baked Apple Premium Chalk Paint full strength with a Staalmeester series 2020 size 18 and a size 12 pointed tip for the bevels, the entire body painted along with hinges and hardware. Lightly sanded after painting to remove any unwanted texture allowing  for gentle texture.

    Waxing in order done:
A 80 clear wax 20 dark wax was mixed together to create a subtle dark wax. Brushed over with our Staalmeester 3600 pure bristle brush gently wiped excess back with a clean lint free rag

A Dusky Fields coloured wax was then mixed (clear wax and Dusky fields premium chalk paint) and then lightly brushed over the dark wax allowing it to mix and merge, gently wiped back with a clean lint free rag

Thirdly a rubbed sage coloured wax was then mixed (clear wax and rubbed sage premium chalk paint) and lightly dusted over and gently dusted back with a clean lint free rag.

All bevels edges and areas around the handle then further detailed with a strong mix of Dusky Fields coloured wax

All bevels and hardware then enhanced with Vienna gold Metallic Glide which blends in beautifully with Baked Apple and then with forgotten gold mixed here and there for a subtle two tone metallic.
