A beautiful revival of a sentimental piece for our client, originally in dark Mahogany with a worn varnish, the classic barley twist legs requiring not just a revival but something to bring this piece out as feature piece for our clients home. With the idea of a "black and gold" table, inspiration was taken from the TR Gallery where Midnight (a Vintro Charcoal) was chosen with Victorian Black Wax, and the gold gilding was left to our interpretation for our client.
Hand-painted in a subtle textured finish, and detailed and deepened with a custom mixed Victorian Black wax, we then moved on to carefully detail the fine lines and edges of the table with gold gilding from The Artisan Company that creates a stunning reflective gold, the fine lines of gold adds an understated touch of luxe and the chosen paint and wax colours gives the table a rich deep black look and feel but really it is a charcoal and black worked together on the piece to give it a stunning depth as the light hits it with our contouring and shading of the piece through a Vintro coloured Wax. Subtle texture was used to give it character and a beautiful hand painted look of a classic piece, the texture gives the table the character and depth that is sympathetic to it's history. What would often be seen as a dated piece is now current, classic, elegant with a touch of luxe and takes on a completely different persona and will now be a stunning feature piece for our client
What we did:
- Hand-painted in Midnight Chalk Paint using a Staalmeester 2020 synthetic brush as well as a french tip size 12
- Deepened and detailed created using: Victorian Black wax
- Gold gilding waxes used to detail from The Artisan Company
