A plain chest commissioned to be a character feature in our clients spare room. Our client wanted colour, she wanted character and asked if we could do something with a plain chest and the answer was yes. The colours used were drawn from a painting in the room that had teals and various blues in it, she wanted it bold in colour but still soft enough to place in a bedroom.
Hand-painted in a rustic textured finish in Casper then a series of coloured waxes & ageing techniques along with stencilling and appliques has completely transformed a plain chest into something with character, interest and revived pulling all the colours out from an existing painting in the room to give it purpose. A great before and after and a great showcase of the many ways to revive something plain into a feature.
What we did:
- Hand-painted in Casper using a Staalmeester2020 synthetic brush
- aged and depth created using the following coloured waxes : Dark wax, Teal, Paris Blue, Christabelle, French Navy and Eden.
- Champagne gilding detailing using Champagne gold Gilding wax from The Artisan Company
- The top is stencilled with Champagne gold Gilding wax from The Artisan Company
