Every chair has potential to be an Artisan Paint Project, a chance to revive it in a way that's perfect for your home...small chair, big impact, and a great before and after.

Chairs make great decor pieces, great candidates for Artisan paints and products; a chance to revive and completely redesign regardless of its condition. A commission project for our client looking to lighten and neutralise this old chair and a complete re-design to suit whilst in the midst of a home re-styling. With markings chips and dings from it's previous history, a few paint stains,  we worked in with it rather than against; giving it character whilst keeping it soft and elegant using Premium Chalk Paint, subtle texture paint work and subtle layers of coloured waxes for a gentle depth in finish and colour allowing us  to highlight and accentuate it's shape. Bringing out the details with the rivets in artisan metallic creme adds a stylish designer touch to it and overall re-interpreting this chair into a beautiful piece giving it a completely new look and design. Hand painted  and detailed specifically to suit our clients home.

What we did :

Painting:
Hand painted with Subtle texture in Burmese Premium Chalk Paint using a Staalmeester angled brush, pointed tip (2022 style) size 12 and round brush (2020 style) size 18. It's important to use brushes in proportion to chair to avoid build up; although we did allow some build up on edges to fill in some chips and dings. 2x coats. Once painted, a light sand with 240 grit sand paper  to remove any unwanted texture.

Waxing in order done:
A 50/50  dark and clear wax was mixed together to create a subtle dark wax. Brushed over with our Staalmeester 3600 pure bristle brush gently wiped excess back with a clean lint free rag, allowing it to add an earthiness to the Burmese as well as creating subtle age to the finish.

Our Premium Chalk Paint in Kirimi colour applied as a coloured wax was mixed and lightly brushed over the top of the dark wax and lightly wiped back with a clean lint free rag, allowing waxes to mix and merge for depth, also pushing the dark waxed finish to the background and overall creating a lovely soft aged look.

Rivets were hand painted in Carbon Black using Staalmeester 1090 fine detailing brush, then painted over in Artisan Pewter Creme to detail the rivets on the front and back into an Artisan pewter finish
