Bold and brights aren't just for contemporary spaces but are also great for creating an aged finish, bringing a beautiful old worldly charm and character into a space as shown with this project. You'll be surprised at how much bright colours like Wendy's Pink, Azure King finisher, Purple Sash could work as an aged decorative Artisan Paint finish. In this example we're showing it to you with Artisan Liberty & Greenhouse. Small pieces like this are great for creative finishes and adding that pop of colour to.
What we did:
Painted in Artisan Liberty using a Pro-hybrid 2020 size 18 for the flat surfaces and a Staalmeester pointed tip on the bevels and the legs of the table and areas with finer detailing. Brushing the paint out & creating texture by generously loading the brush and brushing the paint out in all directions in one and a half coats achieving good full coverage.
Diluted Green House Premium Chalk Paint with water by approximately 15% to thin the paint out (we do this to allow us to wax distress later). Applying one thin coat over Liberty brushing it out thinly in areas where you can still see Liberty coming thorough.
Dark wax : Brushed out dark wax over Green House, rubbing firmly with a clean lint free rag, this allows you to distress some of the greenhouse off as well as wipe any excess wax off. Creating a worn distressed look allowing Liberty to come through in areas. Greenhouse was diluted to create a thin veil over Liberty making this step easy to do. Then go over and apply a thin coat of dark wax in areas you want to accentuate and age further.
Soft gold applied decoratively on the edges and detailing and steel wooled back. Jayda Rose Glaze applied here and there to provide a subtle coppery hue.
Choose your bright and bold colours and age with Artisan dark wax for an old worldly pop of colour...
